A Benzodiazepine of medium duration of action, Alprazalom is often given for anxiety and panic disorders as well as anticipatory nausea from chemotherapy and acute depression. Like other benzodiazepine, it binds to the GABA receptor, reducing the sensitivity to a stimulus, which is why it is used for anticipatory nausea.
