A pyrrolidinone derivative, Doxapram acts on chemical receptors in the carotid and aortic range. This leads to an increase in respiratory rate and volume, which is why oxygen saturation in the blood increases. It is used to treat post-narcotic or post-operative respiratory disorders as well as chronic lung diseases.
