A resorcinol derivative that acts at B1- and B2-adrenoceptors, Metaproterenol is similar adrenaline and accelerates the heartbeat while lowering blood pressure and for this reason is used in veterinary medicine for bradycardia. In humans, it is approved only for acute asthma attacks.
